Metro Beauty Academy’s unique architectural design gives a typical learning environment a run for it’s money. Our building was designed to bring inspiration and creativity by infusing the indoors with the outdoors. The open concept and modern industrial feel allows for the maximum use of natural light.

Success Stories
Stacy Ho
Cutler Salon, New York City | Assistant

Since graduating from Metro Beauty Academy in February 2009, my life has been a combination of ups, downs, and most of all, hard work. Immediately after I had completed my hours at Metro, I signed up and tested for my PA State Cosmetology License where I passed with a 99% on the practical and a 97% on the theory! After obtaining my license, I began doing local work in the Lehigh Valley assisting under Adrienne Bearden-Gardner doing hair and makeup on photo shoots.
I attended the IBS show in New York City in the spring to begin networking where I had opportunities to speak to several salon owners and established hair stylists from all over the world. I then decided it was time to give it all I had and moved to the East Village in Manhattan in May.
From the very week I was settled in, I started to really hit the streets and hand out my resume to anywhere and everywhere they would accept it! After a couple days, I received several calls for interviews from well known salons which included Arrojo Studio, Dop Dop Salon, Cutler Salon, and Bumble&Bumble. After going through many interview processes, I sat and really lined up my options and then made the decision to join the Cutler Salon team. Cutler Salon is known for not only being a major A-list celebrity salon of choice, but the team is highly involved in major editorial work and New York City’s fashion weeks.
I joined the team in late June and the work has only gotten harder since then. The hours are long, the work is very serious, and the classes are very advanced. But even though it hasn’t been the easiest job to work, it has been the greatest experience of my life. Only a few months into my career, I have worked hard and been able to broadcast my looks all over the nation.
My work has been featured on stylecaster.com, the Rachael Ray Show, New York Times Magazine, Seventeen magazine, E.L.F. Cosmetics, and New York City’s 2010 spring and fall fashion weeks. I may have done a lot, but the journey has yet to be completed. I have been incredibly blessed but I know there is still so much more to see.
My story has just begun.
Carrie Chapman-Levit
John Sahag Workshop | Colorist

Metro Beauty Academy graduate, Carrie Chapman-Levit, has honed her coloring skills and recently joined the John Sahag Workshop in New York City. John Sahag is legendary for his unique “dry cut technique,” and his workshop is home to renowned stylists and colorists who meet with celebrity clients such as Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Shia Labeouf, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Heidi Klum, and more.
“The advanced color training with Wella at Metro Beauty Academy has put me four steps ahead of my peers that have graduated from other schools. I have the knowledge and skill that allows me to keep up with some color artists who have been in the industry for years,” Carrie says.
The salon is constantly involved in a great deal of editorial work, which is something Carrie enjoys because she is able to express her creativity just as she did while at Metro Beauty Academy through photo shoots as a senior floor student.
Carrie also received her bachelor’s degree in painting and art education from VCU’s School of the Arts. She has always enjoyed the art of color and is now studying under the best to provide the latest techniques to the NYC elite.
Her mentors include colorists from France and Italy who are masters at the Balayage technique in addition to New York City-based color specialists with more than 15 years of professional experience.
Although still considered a student and undergoing a two-year assistant program, Carrie will receive a chair at the John Sahag Workshop upon her training completion. She is anxious to become a part of its legacy and plans to become a Master Colorist.
“I am an artist. I will always be an artist. I have just chosen to change my medium,” she adds. “From now on, hair is my canvas.”
